Faith Formation

All aspects of human life are opportunities for growth in faith. Our efforts in faith formation strive to reach out to people of all ages, children through adults, in all stages of life. Growing in faith and knowledge is a life-long process. Babies discover God through the loving care of their parents. School-aged children learn specifics about the Catholic faith into which they were baptized. Teens test the relevance and validity of what has been passed on to them. Adults examine their faith in the context of work, changing family roles, and a huge array of personal life decisions. As a parish family, we give each other the strength and support we need to truly be disciples of Jesus, and to “love the Lord, our God, with all our heart, soul, and mind.” (Paraphrase of Matthew 22: 37)

Adult Enrichment

Throughout the year we as a parish and with the Catholic parishes of the East Side of Madison, provide various programs in the knowledge of our faith and come together as believers. Watch the church bulletin for information on enrichment opportunities or contact Eileen Hribar at 221-1777 or ehribar@ihm-school.org

Liturgy of the Word for Children

Liturgy of the Word for Children is offered for all children in grades K-5 at the 10:15 weekend liturgy from the First Sunday of Advent through Pentecost Sunday. LWC provides an opportunity for children to hear age-appropriate Scripture Readings and dialogue about them, sing special songs, offer a Creed, and formulate their own Prayers of the Faithful. The children are dismissed for LWC after the Opening Prayer and return to their parents in church during the Preparation of Gifts. For more information about LWC contact LaVonne Bayer at 221-1001 orlbayer@ihm-school.org

Religious Education

For families who choose to send their children and youth to the area public schools, we offer a program of religious education classes that assists parents in passing on an understanding of the Catholic faith, its sacraments and traditions to their children. Classes are offered for students in grades K-10 and are held in the parish school building. Classes for grades K-5 meet at a choice of two times: Monday afternoons from 4:00-5:00 or Monday evenings from 6:30-7:30. Classes begin in mid-September and continue until Easter time. Special events include the Family ADVENTure, opportunities for Mass and prayer, and potluck gatherings. Contact: LaVonne Bayer at 221-1001 or lbayer@ihm-school.org for more information. Classes for grades 6-10 are held on Wednesday evenings (7:00-8:00) from October to April. Service projects, retreats and guest speakers are featured. Summer mission trips are also planned for high school students. For more information, contact Eileen Hribar at 221-1777 or ehribar@ihm-school.org
