My
name, obviously, is Spencer, and I went to school here at IHM. I
graduated from this school in 2010. I like to draw more than
paint, so most of the art here is sketches, and most of my stuff
isn't emotionally deep, just technically challenging for me to
draw. My favorite artist is Leonardo DaVinci, because he was also
a musician, like me, and an engineer/inventor.

This is my final, graduating
painting. As I say below, My sketch of a schooner turned out so
well, I decided to do a painting of it (and I like boats).
Painting the waves was challenging, but I think I did a fairly
good job. Also, the shading of the sails' shadows was difficult,
but it all worked out in the end.

This is the
practice painting we did as a bit of a warm up for our oil
painting. I painted a little bit abstractly here (thats what we
call it now days) but this is the moon over a river.

This
is one of my pieces that I am most proud of. It is a copy of one
of DaVinci's sketches of a horse. The fact that my horse does not
have a right back leg is not an accident. That's the way DaVinci
drew it.

This
is an apple that I drew. It is a good way to practice using
gradients.

I
call this “The Schooner,” and it turned out so well, that I
decided to do my oil painting of a very similar boat. I really
like the detail and the shading that I used.

This
is inspired by my left hand. We did one of these in class in sixth
grade, and I wanted to see if I could do any better than my old
one.

I
was just doodling when I drew this plane, but it still turned out
okay.
|
This
was “inspired” by DaVinci's gem sketch, and is a very
interesting shading exercise. It was also inspired by me needing
to draw something.
