Sampsonite's Web Page

My name is Sam and I go to Immaculate Heart of Mary school in Monona. This is my art gallery. My art consists mostly of sketches, usually including one or more Ninjas. I think that my favorite thing that I have done in art class in my year at IHM was the oil painting. It was a true opportunity to express creativity and was a lot of hard work. I also enjoyed the many projects that we, as a class, undertook over my one year, here at IHM. I feel that I have managed to improve some over the course of time here, and have been given the opportunity to explore art in many diverse and interesting mediums. I hope that all who come to this page enjoy!

The three sketches you see above (as mentioned before) have ninjas in them! They are the last three in a series known as the “Ninja Saga!” This saga consists of stick ninjas battling against samurai, aliens, vikings, beasts, and, as you can see above, other ninjas.

Above you see an aerial view of a scene from a zoo. The animal in the exhibit is the legendary “ninjus monkeyous.” It has been known to make oriental weapons such as the naginata, battle staff, nunchucks, and ninja stars. Wouldn't want to mess with him, now would you.

This is obviously my oil painting. Although it pales in comparison to Cecily's Farm Sunset and Spencer's Sail Boat, it is still, in my opinion, pretty cool. I experimented with mixing colors, using only one green in the entire painting. I used white, dark gray, and yellow in combination with the green. I also used different brush strokes to try and create different effects. Long filling strokes for the main colors, short, brisk strokes (for when the black of the night sky meets the colors of the lights) and small careful, slow strokes for the borders between colors were the ones that I used. Hope you have enjoyed my art gallery!
